seeing the tool bars on the excel spreadsheet

I have tried to set tool bars so that format and calculation toolbars appear at the top of the spreadsheet, to no avail. I have checked preferences and set the check marks and reset but still am without format and formula bars. Help!!

Are you talking about XL08??


The formatting toolbar will dock within the workbook window if you
choose View/Customize Toolbars and Menus..., and check the "Dock"
checkbox for the formatting toolbar entry.

The Formula bar, like most toolbars, cannot be docked within a workbook
window. It *can*, again like most toolbars (in fact, every toolbar other
than the Standard toolbar), be docked at the top, bottom, left, or right
edge of the screen.
