Seek does not work on Windows Vista

MS Access 2003 is the product.

When I do a seek on a field of a table that is defined as a long with the
value from anther table that is defined as a byte I have a problem. The
problem is that the NoMatch property returns true even though the record does
exist. The number being seeked is 1 which should work and does on machines
running Windows XP Pro.

What could the problem be?
