I click on File, Data File Management. There are two
rows, both identical. Both named Personal Folders, both
have same path, both pointing to the outlook.pst file.
Both folders appear in Outlook today. I add a new
folder 'Test' in one, it duplicates below. I remove it,
it is removed below. Same file, same information.
So I deleted the second reference in the Data File
Management. The second Personal folder dissappears from
the Outlook Today list. The client swears that there was
information in the lower half that was not in the first
half. Now, some data has also dissappeared from the email.
We tried searching for keywords in Windows Explorer
search, checking the recycle bin, only one hard drive,
using Find/All-mail-folders. We are confused. If there
are two references (rows) in the Data File Management, is
there ANY possiblity that they are pointing somewhere
where they are not really pointing.
I also tried to add another "instance" of the same
personal folder but when I close, it won't keep (almost
like it knows it's a duplicate and won't do it). Begs the
question 'how did the duplicate get there to begin with?'
(or how did it get changed later on?). I know it's not a
perfect universe but this has me really stumped.
