select all shaded

I asked this in an earlier question, and it may not have
been seen.

the 'select all' button on the styles and formatting
pane is always shaded out. Any ideas why? Many thanks. Joe

This works in conjunction with the "Keep track of formatting" option when
it's turned on. See Tools | Options | Edit.
