Select and Zoom doesnt zoom onto selected item

Unlike the previous versions of visio - if I have a large A1 diagram and
select a small object and zoom in on it (say 200%) the zoom function does not
zoom into the object that is selected but more often then not the exact
centre of the diagram or more rarely just off of the object. Does anyone know
how to fix this as I work on big complex diagrams and this one missing
feature is a real pain.
