Select Names Sort Order Inconsistent

I administer a number of outlook 2003 users in Exchange 2003. The select
names sort order for one user is inconsistent. In the contact view, they
display consistently. However, in the select name sort order, some are last
name first but a few are reversed. Short of recreating the contacts, is
there another way to "fix" the contacts so they appear according to the rules
in other parts of the program?
