=SUBTOTAL(9,A:A) will Sum the visible cells in column A

Ammendment..........

Visible due to filtering only.

If you are running 2003 version, to sum visible cells that are due to hiding
rows and/or filtering use

=SUBTOTAL(109,A:A)
