Selecting a folder to save a Word document

If I select "save as" and try to select a folder from the drop-down list Word
freezes.
(I have XP SP2 with Office Prof. 2003 SP2 installed). Any ideas please?

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.

Thank you - I disconnected from my Z drive (network with one other computer)
and Word now functions normally. It is still a mystery as this drive has
always been connected and suddenly it caused a problem. Again - thanks for
your prompt response.
