Selecting cells in columns

I have a column of numbers I need to copy, typically I click and scoll to the last cell however this can be irritating when scrolling to the 24690 line.
Is there a faster way to select the first cell in the column and the last cell in same column.

Thanks

Another option if you know the extent of the range: Click in the Name Box
(left end of the Formula Bar), type the range as you would in a function
argument (such as A10:A24690) then press return.

JL's suggestion is even better, however, assuming there are no empty cells
in the range -- otherwise you need to repeat the stroke for each segment of
the broken series of cells.
