Selecting Columns Problem

R

Rebecca

I have an inherited 20-page Word table that I cannot
select individual columns on. If I try to select a column,
part of one or more columns in front of it is selected
also. This seems to be related to something in the first 5
rows. I tried splitting the table after the first 5 rows
but all the cells are already the same size and there are
no obvious formating discrepencies. There are also no
merged cells. How can I fix this? The problem is repeated
on every page.

Even if it appears that there are no merged cells, it's possible that cells
were merged and resplit in some new and different way that makes if
difficult for Word to keep track. It's also entirely possible that nested
tables are involved (especially if this is text pasted from the Web).
