Selecting, highlighting, and locking text within less-than and greater-than symbols (<>)

Hello,
I need help selecting everything between a set of tags. Does anyone
know how to use Word to select everything between these two characters
"<>" in a tagged document. There are several instances of this
throughout the tagged document all of them with differing amounts of
text and/or numbers between the tag symbos "<>".

Also, once those are selected I want to lock those tags so that I can
send the document to a translator without the translator altering or
destroying the tags and still be able to see and translate the
non-tagged document text. If anyone knows how to do this please
respond. Or if you know how to do some of this please respond. I would
greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Morgan

Do a find using <*> in your "Find what" field. Be sure to
check the Use Wildcards options, otherwise it will not
find anything.

About protecting parts of your document.... I don't think
that's possible. Take a look a at Tools->Track changes,
maybe you can use that instead.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried doing that and got further than
before, but found that it will end up selecting more than I wanted to
select. It selects every letter between the first < and the last >
symbol instead of all of the tags. For example, instead of selecting
everything including the <> tags in this text and NOT selecting the
actual document text "Friends and Fellow-Citizens:"

<FeatureSet:InDesign-Roman><ColorTable:=<Black:COLOR:CMYK:process:0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,1.000000>>
<ParaStyle:><cTypeface:Light><cLeading:15.000000><cFont:Trade Gothic
\(T1\)>Friends and Fellow-Citizens:<cTypeface:><cLeading:>

it will select every character EXCEPT FOR the <> characters but
including the document text. Any sugguestion of a more advanced search
or a way to select entire tags such as <FeatureSet:InDesign-Roman> or
<cLeading:>?

Please help if you are able.

Thank you,

Sadly '<' and '>' are Word's wild card syntax for beginning and end of
a word respectively. You need to escape them with \ to achieve your
dastardly aims.
e.g.
\<*\> should work.
