Selecting imported data

I am creating an organization chart that pulls contact information from a
Sharepoint (SP) Contacts List. The problem is that the people in certain
positions rotate in and out frequently, making the update of this Visio chart
tedious and time consuming. The Sharepoint resource is easily updated as a
process of in- or out-processing. Adding another point to update starts to
wear on the whole operation.

What I need is for Visio to go to my Contacts List and select records based
on their position. Can Visio selectively import data into a shape, such as by
position? If so, how? My SP Contacts List is a simple directory (i.e., name,
phone number, address) that also includes a "Position" field.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please disregard... I figured it out and it wasn't even as difficult as I
thought it would be. On to the next obstacle. ;-)

I'm having a similar problem. I'm trying to link the same data from my
Contacts List which is a simple directory (i.e., name, phone number, address)
from an Excel spreadsheet to a Shape's Shape Data which happens to be a
Variable List type field. If I can get this Master Contacts spreadsheet to
link to the shape data field, instead of having to type in the new persons
name and contact information into each Shape every time a new person is
added, after I add it once to my Master Spreadsheet list, their names would
automatically show up in the in the pull-down selection list for each Shape
in my diagram. Can you tell me how you solved your problem?
