selecting multiple blocks of text

Hi,

How do I simultaneously select multiple blocks of text that are separated
from each other by text that I do not want to select?

Holdiing down the command key while selecting the disjoint sets of text
is standard Macintosh behavior. It works in Word.

Actually it works _only_ in Word, AFAIK, for text. It works everywhere else
(like the Finder) for lists, but I haven't met any other app where it works
for text. I think it was introduced in Word X.

Gosh! You are right. It slid under my notice that I don't command-click
text in any other application, and rarely in Word for that matter.

Holding down the command key doesn't do that for me. Doing that selects the
whole document at once. Any other suggestions?

Rather, with command key, pointing the cursor at text anywhere selects the
whole document, while dragging select with command key, selects only what is
dragged. Going on to an unconnected section of text, deselects the first
selection.

What's "Word, AFAIK"?

That's because you top post.

seriously, what version of Word are you on? You need v.X or 2004 to
experience the delights of disjoint text block cmd-dragging AFAIK (as
far as I know) NTPBHPMS (Now that Paul Berkowitz has put me straight)
