Selecting multiple calendar items in Entourage 2008

Hello - when viewing the calendar in "Today" (single day) view, I'd like to
select more than one calendar item at a time, so that I can apply the same
category or project to more than one item at once.

However, I can't seem to select two or more calendar items at once here, no
matter whether I try Cmd+click, Option+click, Shift+click, or Ctrl+click.

Am I missing something, or is this a limitation of Entourage 2008?

Hope someone might be able to shed some light on the subject!

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff!

This is possible but you need to look elsewhere in Entourage. You can
create a Calendar View (Entourage 2008 terminology). This is also
possible in Entourage 2004.

Switch to your Calendar and select File --> New --> Saved Search.

Under "Match if all criteria are met" select "Start Date" | "Today". You
may also wish to add "End Date" | "Today".

Click the Save button in the upper right corner and name it something
like "Today".

You might also try to add variations such as "Category" | "Does Not Exist".

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply, William - I wasn't aware of the Save Search function
to begin with (uhhh), so this was welcome information. It's good to see that
the "saved search" gets saved as an item in the folder list as well. Think
I'll make use of this.

It's also interesting that you can do a right click on one of the items in
the folder list and select "Add to Favorites Bar", so that you can call it
up, regardless of whether you're in mail, contacts, calendar or project
view.

I love my Favorites bar! You can also _drag_ items into and out of the
Favorites bar but I think my favorite feature is that I can put mail
folders there and drag messages directly onto it to move them.

Hello William,
I love my Favorites bar! You can also _drag_ items into and out of the
Favorites bar but I think my favorite feature is that I can put mail
folders there and drag messages directly onto it to move them.

This is also an interesting tip you just mentioned - we're getting off topic
for this thread, but I see that when you create a project, Entourage will
automatically make a "mail" folder in the folder list. Then, when I try the
trick you mentioned, i.e. dragging the new project/mail folder to the
favorites bar, I can now drag mail messages to the folder on the favorites
bar, and Entourage will automatically assign that message to the specified
project. (Whew!)

For instance, I created a project in Entourage called "Business and Career".
When I switch to mail mode, I can see the folder, "Business and Career"
showing up in the mail folders list, under the category "Folders on My
Computer". I dragged the "Business and Career" folder to the favorites bar.
Now, I can assign any e-mail to that project, just by dragging it to the
word "Business and Career" on the favorites bar. Pretty nifty...

However, I also found that it's not as flexible as it looks. For instance:

- I can't drag a contact to that "Business and Career" item on the
favorites bar - only e-mail messages can be dragged there.
- Similarly, items on the calendar can't be dragged to the favorites bar
either. If I want to refer to a memo I wrote in a calendar appointment item,
for instance, it seems I can't use the favorites bar as a bookmark - a pity.
- Likewise, I can't drag items from the to-do list in calendar view to the
favorites bar - they simply refuse to be dragged (argh!).
- Once you create an item on the favorites bar, there seems to be no way to
rename it - you're stuck with that name.

The favorites bar seems to be a good idea in theory; but based on the above,
I really think that the implementation of this potentially handy feature has
a long way to go.
