Selecting new document opens a previous document

Mr. B

When opening a new document the application opens a previous document.
It is always the same one. I suspect someone has this document in the
wrong place. How do I delete this old document? I have chekced the
preferences file. Do I need to change the settings there?

You need to find the Normal template and delete the text from it. If you
said what version of Word, we could tell you where to find the Normal
template.

Hi Mr. B,

I suspect that someone has been messing with your Normal template (the
template on which all new documents are based). To test the Normal
template, see here: <http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/MacWordNormal.htm>
(If using Safari, hit Refresh once or twice; better yet, use another browser
for this site.)
