Update (this is NOT an answer):
If, in the from field, I type in (e-mail address removed)
Outlook will accept it, as I filled in
(e-mail address removed) as one of the e-mail address of John
Doe. However, when sending the mail and looking in the
headers it still says (e-mail address removed). Also, I added
my private mail addresses to my account here so I could
send mail from those accounts, but now exchange thinks
it's supposed to receive mail for that domain/account
(this is DEFINITELY NOT what I want). Which means, if I
try to send mail to my home account from work, the
exchange server just drops it in my mailbox there instead
of sending it to my home server which is the final
destination for that domain.
In short, I want to be able to send mail from an email
address other than my default one and I do NOT want
exchange to think it can also be final destination for
that mail address. So, let's say John Doe has:
(e-mail address removed)
(e-mail address removed)
The exchange server at the business is final destination
for @company1.com. However, the ISP is final destination
for @company2.com. Now John Doe needs to be able to send
(from work) mails as (e-mail address removed) AND
(e-mail address removed). For this I added
(e-mail address removed) to the user account, however now
exchange thinks if it sees mail to (e-mail address removed)
it has to put it in John Doe's mailbox, this is NOT what
we want, it needs to send it to the ISP as that is final
destination for @company2.com and not the exchange server.
Next to that John Doe is still unable to send mail
appearing to come from (e-mail address removed). All mail
that John Doe sends, no matter what he fills in the from
field (he can type in (e-mail address removed) and exchange
accepts that) will appear to come from
(e-mail address removed) as that is his primary e-mail
address.
In short, we want what Outlook Express has if you enter
more POP3 accounts. You get this nice drop-down box which
lists your accounts and you can just choose the account to
send from. If you have aliases or something you just add
extra POP3 accounts to outlook express for them and turn
off the option to fetch mail from those. Then you're able
to send as those accounts w/o retrieving their mail (which
might not be possible in the first place anyways).
Hope someone knows... I'd really be disappointed if a
mailserver as Exchange won't allow something this trivial.
A lot of people I know need this feature, but it's as if
Exchange wants to dictate what your address is. So far
I've had all customers say farewell to exchange and switch
to Outlook Express and POP3 accounts, but unfortunately
this isn't possible in this case.
Surely hope someone knows.... Been asking a lot of people,
but nobody seems able to help me on this one.
Kind regards
