Selecting Text In Headers

Running MS Word 2K. I have a source document with information in the
Headers that I want to copy/paste to a new destination document along with
the text in the document. The information in the headers has stuff like
"Page 4 of 5" etc, that I want to maintain to copy to the destination. This
is only available in print layour and doesn't seem to be easily seleectable
for copy. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Selecting the entire document with Ctrl-A and then copying that text into a
new document copies the footers as well as text in my test document.

But the new destination document has dynamic page references in the footer,
just as in the source doct, so the refs will change depending on font size
and whether you insert text within the copied text.

Selecting and copying just a portion of the source document does not copy
the footer to the new doct when you paste it into the new document.

You might try printing hard copy and then using OCR and scanning to keep the
page refs/header info where they appeared on the page. That would strip out
the dynamic feature header and footer functioning.

You could also use superglue and paste header on individual popsicle sticks.
Then when you page thru the document just use the appropriate header with
the appropriate page. It's a cumbersome solution but it's worked when I've
had an emergency presentation to make.
