Selecting visible contents while skipping over hidden

I am working with a large file from which I need to copy a few values. I
tried to copy them all at once by hiding all the columns I didn't need and
selecting a row of the values that were still visible. But when I pasted
into my new document, all the hidden values were included too.

I think this is a toggle, since I'm fairly sure I've done it in other docs
and it's worked. Am I right? If so, how do I toggle the setting? If not,
does someone have a brilliant workaround?

Thanks,

Jamie

You were nearly there!

Hide the Columns or Rows you don't want.
Highlight the data
Select Edit > Goto > Special > Visible Cells Only
Copy and Paste
