I am running Office 2000 with Windows ME.
For reasons very long and complex I have a need to do a selective
installation of Access from a Office XP Pro disc which I have legal
access to. I will not do a full upgrade to XP as I have to uninstall
the Access software in approximately 9 months and my system
configuration will revert to what I am currently running today
I am very concerned about how Access and the rest of my system will
behave since Office suites of different versions generally do not play
nicely in the sandbox together. Further, I am concerned about how my
system will behave when i do the Access uninstall in several months.
I have heard that there may be issues with the DLL files and it could
cause lots of instability in my system both after the install and the
future uninstall.
Also part 2 of my question is that I have been told by Microsoft that
doing a selective install of Access of an XP Pro disk is identical to
doing an install of a standalone version of Access in terms of how it
installs sets up etc. I have also been told by other folks that this
is NOT true and the selective install has more risk when you are
running a different version of windows/office. Can anyone comment on
this??
I'm not much of a software person so bear that in mind and give me the
"idiots" answer.
Thanks
Kerry
