Self-signed Digital Certificates

I am still using Access 2003 and attempting to create a self-certificate.
(My OS is Vista Home Premium.)
I can apparently generate the certificate and even sign my code with it, but
when I save the Database with the signed code and then reopen it , I see a
message that there is a problem with the certificate and that it is discarded.
How / where can I correct the problem?
