My son's Entourage account can send and receive only to my own Entourage account. When other people send him emails, nothing appears and no error messages are generated. If he tries to send himself an email it appears to be sent, but does not appear in his inbox. Again, no error messages are displayed.

Does your provider offer another way to access your son's email - such as
webmail? See if the missing messages are there. Also check all the other
folders to make sure messages aren't being delivered to Junk E-Mail or
Deleted Items or somewhere else. Who is the provider? Are you and your son
using the same provider? Are the others he is attempting to communicate with
on the same provider or other provicers?

Excepting severe database corruption, Entourage just gets what's there and
sends what it's told to send. It's up to your provider to actually exchange
email. That your emails are getting through tells me that Entourage is
working okay, and there is some other problem at hand.

His email address perhaps an alias account?

Normally, sent mail goes to the Sent Items Folder not the Inbox.
