send email

For reasons mysterious, my email program in Outlook 2007 has suddenly decided
not to send my emails when I hit "Send'" but rather to put them in the Out
Box, where I find them difficult to send. If I try to close Outlook with
messages in the Out Box, a warning appears telling me not to do this unless I
want to lose the message. I want the email to be sent when I hit "Send'" but
I can't seem to find anything in Options or Tools to accomplish this. I have
not idea why it changed its method of operation. Can anybody help?

When you hit send the email goes to your OutBox, it is sent from there when
outlook performs a send/receive.
If you close Outlook when msgs are in the Outbox the warning is a
Std.default warning
In your mail accounts/options, check the send/receive settings, there is one
to perform a send/receive when starting outlook, and a second option to poll
for mail every xx minutes - set it no less than 10 minutes.
And I assume outlook is not set offline (File>Offline)

Further if you have intergrated anti virus scanning your email, uninstall
that AV, reboot and retest Outlook. If the issue has gone away, reinstall
your AV *without* the outlook intergration

DL: Thanks. I discovered that Outlook was, indeed set to "Work Offlilne." I
don't know how it got that way, but that seems to have corrected the problem.
