Send File for Review

I like to use a Quick Access Menu Bar button in Word 2007 to send files for
review. When a file arrives in Outlook Mail, my office partner can post
comments and send it back to me. However, if the Word file has a hyperlink in
it, when he tries to click on the hyperlink, he gets a Can't Locate file
message. In our office, we save our files in a shared folder on our Exchange
Server. Our computers attempt to locate the hyperlinked file on our desktop
computers and not on the server where there located. How can I change where
our computers look for the hyperlink files from our desktop to the shared
server?

I take it both of you see the same network shares with the same path? That
being the case, try unchecking Word Options > Advanced > Web Options > Files
Update Links On Save.

Corrrect. We see the same network shares and use same path. I unchecked the
Update Links on Save option. However, the problem still remains. Any other
suggestions? Thanks.

The option won't change back a link that has already been changed, but if
that doesn't fix it for the future I have no more ideas at present.

Thanks for you assistance. Actually, the link hasn't changed. When I open the
file on the shared network drive, the hyperlink works. It has more to do with
Outlook. When I just hover,in Outlook, over a hyperlink in an open Word
attachement file, it's looking for the hyperlink on my computer in a
temporary folder.

You should never open documents from e-mail attachments directly. Always
save to the hard drive and open from there.
