Send mail from another Outgoing Server

M

Manuel Davila

Hello Group,

I have a customer with an e-mail account setup with Comcast/Broadband.
However at the office they use DSL/Bellsouth. At the office in Outlook
(2003) they can RECEIVE all emails (Comcast's) but they are not able to SEND
(error: something like: outgoing server not found), I changed the Outgoing
Server to: mail.bellsouth.net, but still unable to send. I suggested using
the Comcast web mail based solution, but they want to use Outlook.

Other: they do not have a Bellsouth email address which further complicates
the problem.

Has anybody encounter this challenge, is there any work around?

TIA,

Manuel

have you tried setting up the Comcast smtp server to authenticate? If that
doesn't work, then maybe they need to get one email account with Bellsouth
just to use the smtp server. However, I use an ISP that is supplied by my
wife's company and I do not have an email account with this company, yet I
can still use their smtp server. Seems a bit strange that they can't send
using the smtp server of their ISP. What happens when they try?

Gordon,

I have not tried the Outgoing Server authentication suggestion. I like
that. Thanks.

At home sending via their own ISP (Comcast), no problem.

At their office (different ISP) trying Test Email settings: find outgoing
server: failed and send email: failed

(Test email stays in the outbox)

It's quite possible that the company firewall blocks access to other mail
servers. Ask the people who maintain the firewall.
