'Send' not working immediately

I used to hit send (an email) and away it went. Now it is in outbox and I
need to go to the tool bar and use send all...What changed? I don't want the
send/receive as I exit (found that one) I just want a 'send' to go out
immediately while I'm still in outlook. thankx

What version of Outlook?

In 2003, go to Tools, Options, Mail setup and make sure "Send immediately
when connected" is checked.

I'ts 2007. The send works when i go up to the tool bar and select send all or
send/receive all..But I swear i recall that the program used to work (or did
i dream it? ) that when I hit send it went to the outbox and then was sent
without exiting the program..maybe i need to configure the outbox?

Without the "Send immediately ... " option checked, it would go to the Outbox
and stay until sent. I'm sure someone will come along shortly and explain
where that is in 2007. Hold tight.

In 2007: Tools, Options, Mail Setup tab, check "Send immediately when
connected"

boy i feel stupid. good thing it wasn't a snake, it would have bit me. I saw
that check box and was reading it differently than what it means..Duh...thank
