send on behalf of w/o permission? Outlook 2007

Outlook 2007 allows user to add the FROM field to a message header and then
choose a "From" person from the contact folder/global address book . Msg can
then be sent. In recipients mailbox the words "on behalf of" appear if
Outlook is the recipients mail client. Doing a similar send to a Yahoo mail
account the words "on behalf of" do not appear. Sending on behalf of another
individual without their knowledge seems inappropriate. Thanks for any light
anyone can shed on this issue.

did you look in the message header in yahoo to see what it really says? Some
mail clients will only display the name in the from field, but if you look
at the internet headers you'll see the on behalf of notation.

FWIW, if you are using exchange (only way you get a global address book) -
you can only send if you have send as permissions for that address - if you
are seeing different behavior then something is misconfigured on Exchange.
If you use a SMTP server to send, most will accept mail with an alternate
address in the from field.
