send receive failure outlook

Receiving a send/receive failure in outlook. Norton also pops up a screen
indicating rules created each time I try a send/receive that fails. I have
installed service pack 3 for office. This problem occurs from time to time
and then goes away. In the meantime I use Outlook Express which works ok. I
am wondering if this could be a problem with my ISP. When I call them they
say they only support Express and not Outlook. I like Outlook because it has
more features.

Does it work when you disable your Norto Firewall? If so you'll need to
reconfigure your firewall.

Hi Robert: I wasn't able to send/receive either (it just began this
morning)....and yes, it does work when I disable my Norton Personal Firewall.
How do you reconfigure a firewall? (I'm not that tech savvy.....)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
LaDonna

Better ask that in a Norton newsgroup as I'm not too familiar with their
products. Anyway; you'll have to allow Outlook to make a connection to the
Internet in your case most likely over port 110 (POP3 - retrieving mail) and
25 (SMTP - sending mail)
