Hey guys,
Do you have an antivirus or firewall? This maybe blocking, or "scanning" the
email as it comes in. Also, if the message is too large, you may want to ask
your ISP what their limitation is on sending receiving large messages. Some
are 1 mb some are 2mb. If the message is too large to receive, you may need
to just view it on the webmail.
A few things to try:
Log onto Webmail:
When in webmail, delete any spam, or mail that you do not need, or you can
move some of these larger messages to another folder within webmail for the
time being.
If you are able to send and receive all the other mail that you need, that
isnt too large, move the large mail back in to the inbox on the webmail and
try to send receive in outlook again.
Also, for bypassing larger mail, this can be done by downloading headers
only, this will show you what messages you have(just the titles, and the
original size of the message before you download it) then you can just choose
which messages to take in by clicking on the option to download message
within the header information.
To temporarily download the headers:
Within Outlook:
- Click Tools
- Pointing to send receive, (this will give you a drop down)
- point to your email acount,(this will give you a drop down)
- Choose download inbox headers only
These settings will happen for the time that you do it.
If you want this to happen for just larger messages, you can:
- Click Tools
- Point to Send Receive
- Send receive settings (This will give you a drop down)
- Define Send receive groups
This should pull up a Send receive group box
- Click edit
- Put a check box in the message that says: "Download headers for messages
larger than 50kb (you can use the up and down arrow to make it larger or
smaller)
But all and all, 99% of this issue you are seeing, is caused by
Antivirus/Firewall blocking the mail from coming in, or that the message is
too large to be received, which would be a setting on ISP end.
