send receive stopped working

Couple of weeks ago, send received stopped working after two or three
successes!

Whe I start the machine and outlook, I press the send/receive and it does
just that as it always has (six months on current set-up!). It works another
two times then fails to respond at all i.e. pressing the button does nothing
until I restart the machine then again it will work two or three times.

Any ideas as I dont know where to start looking?

Outlook 2003 SP2, XPS1710, MS XP Pro, Norton Systemworks 2006 Premier, POP3.

The same thing happened to me, except it doesn't seem to happen after three successful send/receives.

It happened once, then went away after I rebooted.

Explain what "same thing" means. You did not quote the message to which you
think you are replying and you changed the subject so any threading is
completely lost. Use a newsreader.

Additional information brian, if you are able to assist.

On the last successful send/receive action, the icon for the progress window
remains on the task bar even through selecting it has no effect i.e. the
window does not pop up again. Outlook otherwise appears normal.

Make sure you disable any mail integration of the Norton Systemworks.
Symantec products have a poor reputation (with me) for integrating properly
with Outlook.
