This is not a problem only a question. Last week I installed Office
Prof. 2007. When I send an e-mail in Outlook, the Send/Receive
message in the bottom right hand corner says "Sending message 5 of 5"
even though there is only 1 message in my Outbox.

As I said, this is not a problem but I am always a bit concerned in
case there is something else odd happening somewhere which might be
more important.

Does any one have any ideas?

Thanks

Could there have been 4 other messages in your outbox that did not send prior
to sending the current message>

I'll bet you have four accounts defined in Outlook. Is that true?

Ah.........I have 5 accounts in total. Did not think of that! So
it's sending from all accounts although there is only one message and
that's in the default account?

Thank you

Outlook 2007 seems to include the number of messages you have to send, plus
N-1, where N is the number of accounts.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am quite happy now that I
know why this is happening.
