Send to back not working

My wife and I are both running 10.4.3 (I'm on the iMac, she's on the iBook)

We've both got Office 2004 version 11.2

Today she tried to place a drawing from Microsoft Clip Art into a document
and draw a square box around it. She was then unable to send this box to the
back, behind the drawing. The clip art drawing could not be sent to the
front either. In both instances the menu command 'send to back' was NOT
greyed out.

The only work around was to assign 'no fill' to the square box, fine if you
only want a white background for your picture.

I tried to do the same thing on my iMac and had no problem. In both cases
(on both Macs) the clip art drawing's wrap style was selected to 'square'
('in line with text' wouldn't let me send to the front on my Mac either).

Oddly on my Mac, changing the style from 'square' to 'tight' sends the image
back behind the box but changing back again to 'square' the drawing still
refuses to come back to the front!

One other thing: on my Mac, when I draw a simple square box I get the anchor
symbol appearing beside it. This does not happen on my wife's Mac.

What's happening?

Hi Noel-

Here are a few thoughts on the issues:

My wife and I are both running 10.4.3 (I'm on the iMac, she's on the iBook)

We've both got Office 2004 version 11.2

Today she tried to place a drawing from Microsoft Clip Art into a document
and draw a square box around it. She was then unable to send this box to the
back, behind the drawing. The clip art drawing could not be sent to the
front either. In both instances the menu command 'send to back' was NOT
greyed out.

The only work around was to assign 'no fill' to the square box, fine if you
only want a white background for your picture.

The Clip Art is normally inserted with In Line wrapping, so it is actually
treated as a _character_, not as a picture. So, if one object is inline &
the other isn't, Send to Back (as well as others) won't work, but Behind
Text or In Front of Text will.

Even so, you can apply a Fill Color directly to most In Line Clip Art & you
can apply Format>Borders & Shading, as well, without having to use the
additional rectangle. If you apply different wrapping, the image is then
treated as a picture and you can use the standard Fill Color (Paint Can) &
Line Color (Paint Brush) tools on the object.

Not all Wrapping Styles 'synch' with one another. Wrapping is a property of
the object it is applied to, so objects with different wrap properties will
interact differently with one another. If they _do_ have the same Wrap
applied you can swap the stacking order as you please.>
One other thing: on my Mac, when I draw a simple square box I get the anchor
symbol appearing beside it. This does not happen on my wife's Mac.

On your system the Show/Hide ¶ is turned ON, hers is OFF
What's happening?
