Sending a Distribution List

Hi there,
I'm trying, and failing, to send an email to our distribution list.
I have Outlook 2003, I've created a new DL by going New>DL and adding in the
contacts (from the global address book) - n.b. this is just a test DL.
I have tried to send to the list via the "insert item" and by typing the
name of the list in the 'TO' box.
Both times i've received a error message stating the email cannot be sent.
Have i set the list up incorrectly or am i sending it wrong?
????? Please help!

Insert Item enables you to Insert the DL and send it to someone.

It sounds like you just want to send an email to the DL though. So Insert
Item isn't what you need to use.

Once you have a DL made, it's like a name when you use the To... field
making an email. Try a few things:

Make the DL in your Contacts folder (you haven't explained where you have
made it) and then close the DL.

Open a new email. Click the To... field. Can you now see the DL in your
Contacts?

If you can't see it or the Contacts folder at that point, you need to
configure your Contacts folder as an Outlook address book. Or
alternatively, go to the Contacts folder and drag the DL to the Sent items
folder to force a new email to it.
