Looks to me like this is a non-issue. If he really wanted
to harvest emails all he had to do was look at the news
group posts. Each one has the email address listed, at
least the ones from people who have decided to provide
authentic addresses. Perhaps the news group administration
should look into removing this part of the post from
general viewing.
