I had the problem of “Send to Email†locking up Quick Books, Word, Excel,
Brother ControlCenter3 and Windows Live Photo Gallery. What I found out was
it was a Microsoft corrupt file. The file was Windows Search. I use Windows
Vista Home Premium 64 bit, Office 2007, QB-08 on both of my HP computers that
were bought about six months apart. Both computers had the same corrupt file.
First use Task Manager to close out any froze programs.
To correct this problem-- Start Window -- Open msconfig-- click services --
scroll down to "Windows Search" -- uncheck box to disable -- check apply --
check ok -- reboot computer.
If your “Send to Email†works, the file was corrupt. If not, try unchecking
services in groups of 20 (make a log from where you started and stopped) and
reboot computer. Open WORD to send document by email. Do not use QuickBooks
yet, the services are off line. Progressively uncheck another group of 20.
Reboot and repeat the procedure. Narrow down the services until you find the
corrupt file that causes “Send to Mail†not to work. When you find the
corrupt file, recheck all the good services , leaving the bad services off.
Reboot and open WORD and “Send to Email†to verify that was the only bad
service.
From there you can determine if the service was important enough to keep off
or correct using the Vista reinstall DVD .
