Sending attachments through Word/Excel

I have just upgraded to Office 2003 Professional
Enterprise and when sending attachments in both Word and
Excel I get an error message: "Cannot start Microsoft
Outlook. A program error occurred. Quit Outlook and
Microsoft Windows and then start again." This happens
evne when I close those programs and start again. It
does not allow me to send the document as an attachment
to the sender, any ideas?
