sending attachments

A friend can't send me email attachments. Is there a
setting for attachments. All I get is a winmail.dat
file. I haven't seen this problem before.

Your friend is sending using Rich Text Format and you are using Outlook
Express?

If your friend is using Outlook and you're not (and please note that
Outlook Express is not Outlook :) ), ask him or her not to send
you messages in Rich Text format, because your mail program can't handle
the Rich Text. He or she can use HTML or Plain Text instead and you
should get the message and the attachment just fine.
