Sending contacts as a Item question

N

Nick

I want to create an e-mail mail and I want to send my own contact file
to someone in that e-mail -- but not as an attachment. I want to send
text. The recipient can't open Outlook attachments or v-cards.
Basically, I want to click item (next to the paper clip) and then
chose text in the box -- but text option isn't highlighted; just
attachment is. A few years ago, I could do this, and I would get the
information on the contact card all nicely written out as a text file
in my email. How can I do this now? Using XP and Outlook 2002, I
think. Might be 2000.

Try dragging the contact with the right mouse button to the Inbox.

No, that does not work. It won't allow a drag from the ITEM box into
an open mail. The central issue here, in my humble opinion, is why,
after hitting attach item, is the dot not highlighted that would allow
me to attach as text? This is precisely what I want to do.

You said you wanted to send text. When you right-drag and release the mouse,
you get several choices, one of which is Copy Here as Message with Text.
Choosing that option copies the information from the contact into the body
of the message.

Nope. We are not communicating. I want to send a contact via e-mail to
someone. Iwant it to appear as text in the email, not as an outlook
card. So, I create an e-mail and then cluck the paper clip attachment
thing, and I am given a choice between inserting file and item. I
click item and get a box. The box offers me a choice of places. I
highlight contacts. I find the contact I want to send. But I can't
drag it into the e-mail. And the insert box on the right in the larger
box offers only an option to insert as attachment, not as text. What
do I do? I remember on a previous computer, I could do what I want to
do here.

This these exact steps:

1) Start in your Contacts folder.
2) Find the contact whose information you want to send.
3) Right-drag that contact to your Inbox (or in Outlook 2003, the Email
button in the navigation pane).
4) When you release the right mouse button, from the pop-up menu choose Copy
Here as Message with Text.

You should now see a new message with the contact's information as text in
the body of the message.
