sending e-mail

When I pull up my contact list to find and send an e-mail from my address
list, why do the fax numbers show up in the contact list ? Can I get rid of
these without deleting the fax number in my contact list ?

Because Fax numbers are perfectly valid electronic addresses that can be
used for sending messages. If you don't want to see them, use one of the
many workarounds we've posted here countless times.

Would it be possible to direct me to this workaround or answer it directly.
I have searched and cant find where it has been posted.
I apologize, I am quite new to this tech stuff.

Thanks

Many thanks for your understanding

Delete the fax number from the contact record or modify it in such a way that
Outlook cannot recognize it as a phone number. Some poeple do this by
prepending the letter "F" or the word "Fax" to the front. If you use an
integrated FAX application, this will, of course, break that application.

Sure. Here they are again:
One method to hide fax numbers from the address book is to prefix the fax
number with one or more letters (maybe B for business fax, H for home, O for
other). If the fax number begins with a letter, Outlook won't show it in the
address book.
There are a couple of techniques or utilities that can help you hide fax
numbers from the
address book. See:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/305361/en-us
http://www.rsoutlook.com/us/rshifa.htm
http://www.sperrysoftware.com/Outlook_Solutions.htm (Hide Fax Numbers)

Another way to avoid having fax numbers appear in the address book is
simply not to enter data in the fax fields. Put fax numbers in some other
(non-phone) fields.
