I have had this problem using Office 2000 and Office 2003. When I use Word
as an email editor and I am responding to an email, Word will occasionally
freeze up when I click on the Send button. Checking the task manager Word
will be using all of the CPU. I can leave and take a long lunch and it is
still hung up. I can end Word (either clicking on the X icon in the top
right or through the task manager). It will say that Word is not responding
and I tell it to close it. Outlook is hung during this entire process and I
must use the task manager to close Outlook. It generally appears to happen
most when I receive an email from our exchange server while editing the
email.
It seem to me like Word and Outlook opened a communications channel then
lost contact with each other? Can anyone help?
