Sending email issues on newly set up account

Version: 2008 Processor: Intel Email Client: pop Having recently braved setting up my hotmail account on Entourage, the system has successfully downloaded recent and older emails sent to me.

However it won't allow me to send an email. I keep getting an error:
 Http error: access to the resource is forbidden. Also the windows live hotmail folder could not be read.

Not really techy minded so would appreciate some advice

1.  If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2.  If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

Check under advanced settings. Use SMTP port: 587
