Hi to all,
When sending a test email from Outook 2003 through our Exchange 2003 server,
to an SBS2003 server located at one of our customers called 'Vael', the
following NDR comes back:-
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
(e-mail address removed) on 28/02/2007 12:41
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.
Please contact your system administrator.
<purplezebra.org.uk #5.5.0 smtp;551 Bad Recipient>
I cannot find any information on this message.
However, it looks like when sending an email from home using pop3, it
appears as though it has been sent, as no error message has been returned.
Why is this?
Also, this has only just began happening in the last few days. I cannot log
in remotely to the SBS2003 server now, as well as send them emails, but I
could up until 2 days ago. They can however send emails to me. So the
problems are ingoing to the SBS2003 server.
I contacted the company who set up their MX records and they say that the MX
record reads mail.vael.org.uk and the A record points to the public ip
address. Is it likely that they are possibly blocking something or not
telling the truth!!! I can telnet on port 25 and I know that all port
forwarding is set up 'cos it was working before and no one else has touched
it. I'm totally puzzled and feel convinced it is not the SBS2003 server or
ADSL router located at the customers premises. I cannot help thinking it
could be the ISP. I can log in to the server using a third party software
which by passes any firewalls, but not though remote desktop set to remote
administration mode anymore.
But why did the pop3 email not return an 'unsent' message from my home email
as well?
Any help would be really grateful,
Jeff
