Sending emails from wrong account in multiple account setup

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop I have 4 email accounts (all POP) coming into my Entourage client, relating to different business activities. Although I tend to check the From Account to ensure that the message that I am composing and sending is from the right email address, there are some times that I send from the wrong account.

Is there a way to disable the default account, or set up Entourage to ask which email account this message should be sent from?

I have 4 email accounts (all POP) coming into my Entourage client,
relating to different business activities. Although I tend to check
the From Account to ensure that the message that I am composing and
sending is from the right email address, there are some times that I
send from the wrong account.

Is there a way to disable the default account, or set up Entourage to
ask which email account this message should be sent from?

Go to Entourage menu --> Preferences... --> Mail & News Preferences -->
Reply & Forward. UNcheck the option "Reply using the default account".
When you reply, the receiving account should be the account that appears
in the From field. You can still select a different account if you wish.

If you have an account where you only want to receive mail but never
want to use for sending mail then you can edit your SMTP server settings
in your account so that the server name is invalid. You will not be able
to send using an invalid server address.

Hope this helps!

The option you reference has been unchecked, so replies work fine. The second part you mention does not apply -- unfortunately i deliberately send and receive on all 4 email accounts.

I was hoping to learn about something that would ask me to confirm the From address each and every time -- i'd rather be "bothered" to deal with this question, than send something incorrectly.

Thanks for your response.

I was hoping to learn about something that would ask me to confirm the From
address each and every time -- i'd rather be "bothered" to deal with this
question, than send something incorrectly.

You can create an Automator workflow to create a new message using a
particular address. You can assign a shortcut so it¹s easy to create a new
message.

Then you can still use the second idea I mentioned.

Create a fifth account with bogus server information and set that as
your default account. Whenever you compose a new message then this fifth
account will be selected by default. You'll be forced to select one of
your other four accounts before sending.

Hope this helps!

BIll and Diane ... thanks for your suggestions. I will learn about Automator, first and then potentially create the bogus email account.

I appreciate your help.
