Sending emails

I can send one email at a time OK but when I choose
a "contact" in the adderess book that has multiple email addresses
I have no success in sending - says something about SMPT and timing out.
If I press try agian - still times out.

Love to hear any suggestions.

A little more info please;

Version of Outlook, service type (POP3, IMAP, Exchange, etc) and the exact
error message to begin with.
