Sending from multiple email accounts in Outlook Mobile

Rob Vonderhaar

Hi -
I have a personal (hosted) Exchange account. All of my email - personal and
business - forwards to that account. However, when responding to an email, I
need to be able to choose the email account to match the original source.

In desktop Outlook 2003, this is easy - I simply setup "dummy" email
accounts for each of the POP3/IMAP accounts from which I want to send. When
I hit "reply" to an Exchange message, I can then use the pulldown menu to
choose which sender account to use.

The problem is that I also use Window Mobile 5.0 (on a Treo 700w) which is
ActiveSync'ed to my Exchange server. When I hit "reply" on the Treo, the
"from" account always shows the Exchange account (as "Outlook e-mail)" and
cannot be changed. (You'd think there would be a pulldown on the "From"
header to allow selection from the alternate accounts that I've also
configured on the Treo, similar to the way I handle it in Outlook 2003, but
it's not there... sigh.)

I've tried everything to no avail. There are no hidden menu options to
reply from other than the default sender. I even thought about trying to
'move' the email from the Exchange account into one of the other accounts,
followed by a 'reply' from that account. But that can't be done either,
because the 'move' menu only supports moving a message to other folders
within the *same* account.

If anyone has any kind of workaround to suggest, I'd be eternally grateful.
Surely there must be others who use a mobile device to manage email from
multiple accounts this way??

Thanks,
Rob
