sending html word doc to outlook

T

Tricia

I have a Word 2003 in html format with an image in PNG format.

When i send it to myself (Outlook 2003) everything looks fine. But when I
send it to another outlook user or to my gmail account there is an attachment
added. The name of the file is image001.wmz.

What is this file? How to I get it not to be attached? I cant find anything
on any virus sites about it.

thanks,
tricia

You are assuming it's a virus and I don't think it is. I suspect it's
something that's created because you are sending an HTML email to a Gmail
account. It's probably just a picture (or something interpreted as a
picture) by Gmail.

Hi Tricia,

When you save as Web Page (HTML) from Word it retains content that a browser can't use in compressed files so that if you reopen the
document in Word you get everything back to a full Word .doc file. The .wmz files are usually compressed clipart files (Word is
substituting a JPG or GIF graphic in some cases). If you save from Word as 'Web Page-Filtered' file type you probably won't see
that attachment, but you won't have the full Word feature set again when you reopen that document

It is not just the gmail that gets the file image001.mvz, but other email
programs as well, including a user on Outlook. The attachment does not appear
in my Outlook sent folder version nor does it appear if I forward it to
myself.

I am not assuming it is anything. I just said what I had done for self-help.
I cant find any reference to it on virus websites, microsoft.com or any other
"reputable" site, that is why I turned here.

Should I ask in the Outlook forums?

thanks,
tricia

Bob I tried Web page filtered and Single file web page (mhtml) same result...
outlook attached the file image001.mhz.

I deleted the image and sent to outlook and all is fine. So, thinking that
maybe it was the handling of the image that was the problem, I inserted a WMF
file and same result.

Bob you were on the right track... here is what worked... didn't work from a
..doc file so that is why I converted over to HTML

If I save as filtered html or single page mhtml and then copy and paste into
outlook it works fine... but if I use file send to mail recipient, I get the
bonus attachment...

thanks for getting me on the road to solving the problem!
