Sending .mht file as attachment

Can anyone tell me why Outlook converts a .mht file attached to an e-mail to
a message file? Tried attaching .mht file to e-mail and sending but
recipients get the attachment as a message file which opens in Outlook and
will not display properly. Any suggestions or advice concerning this problem
would be appreciated.

I am facing the same problem. While Outlook Express retains MHT as an *.mht
attachment, Outlook turns it into a *.msg attachment, making it impossible to
open the mht as it was intended to be sent/received. This also removes any
possibility of further editing of the mht file.
