Sending phantom emails

My Outlook 2003 keeps trying to send a message even though there are no
outgoing messages. Then it comes back with an error message (0x800CCC13).
Any idea what the problem is? It also seems to take much longer to send a
real message because of this. Thanks for your help.

I tried that already, but there isn't a message in the folder to delete. Any
other ideas?

I'm not sure I know the answer. Do you mean is it IMAP? If so, it is. Or
do you mean an account like Yahoo (it is Yahoo)?

Something else I noticed is that it takes a very long time for real messages
to go out. It constantly seems to be trying to send, but cannot get it/them
to go and hence I get the aforementioned error code. However, and perhaps
this is the important clue, if I close Outlook, and then reopen it, any real
messages in the outbox get sent almost immediately. Then, it starts cycling
on the phantom message. Explained differently, if I have two real messages
to go, and I close Outlook, wait and then reopen it, at the right bottom it
says 2 of 3 messages being sent (or something like that) and they disappear
immediately from the outbox. Then the message is 1 of 1 being sent and that
whole cycle starts.

Hope that helps.
