Sending pictures to mobile

Hi

We have a staff database app that also stores staff pictures with each staff
record. I have been asked to design something so we can send pictures of
staff to people's mobiles when they need it for ID purposes. I have no idea
where to start on this. Has anyone has any experience of such an application
(sending pictures to mobiles from access)? Any pointers would be
appreciated.

Need version of access, mail program name and version. Also you should only
post to one news group, posting to multiple groups is considered poor form.

Access does not work on mobile devices, but there are many mobile database
programs out there that will sync with Access when using ActiveSync. I
suggest that you go to one of the mobile device software sites and find
something compatible. Here's a site that may help:

Steps to send picture to mobile device.
On the appropriate form pointing to the individuals record you will need to
have the location of where the picture is stored.
You may also have to add email address to the members service provider and
their mobile device phone number. For instance Verizon is
(e-mail address removed) but each service may be slightly different including
what type of picture formats they can accept (jpg, gif, ect). I used .jpg
to send to Verizon no problem. Just send attached to email and phone
service processes it to the device. You should try it and make sure the
pictures once in the phone can be printed at good enough resolution for a
security badge. Try it manually before you put your time into setting up
your button in access to send an email with attachment. Pete D.

Hi Pete

Many thanks for the very useful pointers.

I am familiar with VBA, its the link between my app and phone part that I am
unsure about. I would not know the provider of the recipients beforehand.
They could be with any one of the providers here in UK; T-Mobile,
Videophone, O2 or any of the others. All I have to go with are their mobile
numbers from the staff database. Is it doable?

Well that is the trick, to get their service provider at the same time you
get their phone number. There are sites like the one below that will tell
you the provider for a specified number but some are cryptic as some show
local company name and not the major carrier. But if you have a table of
providers and their picture email suffix then when requested the member
could be required to tell you who it is. Not perfect but over time you
could collect the data. Use a table to hold the carriers as if they merge
or buy out another carrier you only change a couple of records instead of
thousands. I have done this before but I was talking less than 600 people
and not thousands. Also I was doing it for sending appointment alerts to
the SMS text messaging.

NEED A LOAN

Follow what to do below and in two weeks you'll have at least $18,000

coming to you incredibly fast -(a lot faster than similar programs with 4,5,
or 6 names on the list).

So whenever your short on cash, just take out your little $25,00.00 loan
program and mail it to (50) prospects.
