Sending reported error (0x800CCC33)

Val

I'm using Outlook 2003 set up for my MSN-Hotmail email address. I'm getting
the following error when trying to send messages through Outlook 2003:

"Task ‘MSN-sending’ reported error (0x800CCC33): ‘Access to the account was
denied. Verify that your user name and password are correct. The server
responded ‘Forbidden’.’ "

In 2 months the Hotmail team couldn't solve my problem. In my opinion it's a
problem with the "match the characters" security feature.

Hotmail team referred me to the Outlook team who referred me to this forum.
Please help.

Are you using the most recent Outlook Connector?

Brian, I didn't know that I have to install Outlook Connector. I'll do that
tomorrow for the account (e-mail address removed). Until that I've tried Outlook
Connector for the account (e-mail address removed). I got the following error:

Errors:

Time: 11/12/2007 2:38:39 PM
Error in Calendar
Outlook Connector is available only to subscribers.

I'll tell you the outcome for the account (e-mail address removed) tomorrow afternoon.

Installing Outlook Connector solved the problem. Now I'm able to send
messages. Outlook was set up to use HTTP. Now connector uses MAPI.

I suggest Outlook team to take that option off (setting Hotmail/MSN with HTTP)

Why I'm getting the error "Error in Calendar, Outlook Connector is available
only to subscribers."

This happens with both (e-mail address removed) and mtomulet@msn accounts which
are Hotmail/MSN plus accounts.

Because the calendar is supported only for Hotmail Premium accounts.

Hi Brian,

I have to disagree. "A paid subscription-based e-mail account" means you
have to pay something. And I'm paying for my Plus account. I even found a
link that advertises Windows Live Hotmail Calendar synchronization for the
free Hotmail account:

http://www.windowslive-hotmail.com/learnmore/default.aspx?page=domore4

Both Plus and Premium are subscription-based e-mail accounts. The
description from the download page of the outlook connector:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6a-931e-438a-950c-5e9ea66322d4&displaylang=en

should say available for "premium accounts" and not "subscription-based"

Now I have to check the error log every time to see if it's something else
beside the calendar synchronization error.

Your resolution solved my problem partially and I'm not happy about it.

As far as I know, MSN, Outlook , Outlook Connector are all Microsoft
products. For the last two months I was running in a circle between Hotmail
Technical Support, Hotmail Billing Support, and Microsoft Outlook/Outlook
Connector Technical Support.

Please don't take me wrong, you were very useful to me but I'm not happy I'm
bounced from a team to another when it would be much easier if those support
teams would speak the same language and communicate between them to solve a
problem.

While that may be true, MSN acts as a separate entity.

I sympathize, but this newsgroup is not an official support channel for
anything. If you're lucky, you may find someone here who has encountered
and overcome a problem similar to yours, but it doesn't always happen.

Good afternoon. I too have this problem, but just trying to log into
Outlook. I am unable to log in and get our e-mails. Does anyone have some
suggestions? I am receiving the same error message as Val did.

Thank you

As of Sept. 1, 2009, MS Outloook, Entourage, and MS Outlook Express no
longer can access Hotmail accounts as "HTTPMail" accounts. This has been
announced frequently to some users of Hotmail accounts, but apparently not
all.

For users of MS Outlook 2003, or MS Outlook 2007:

For users of older versions of MS Outlook:

I, too, began receiving this error message this weekend. However, I do not
use Hotmail and never have.

I use an MSN account with HTTP as the default. My Outlook 2002 uses ".pst".

Is a "POP3" account setup warranted if I don't use Hotmail? If not, how
else can I work through this error message in order to obtain a week's worth
of missed e-mails?

Thank you.

I know of this change because I am a Hotmail user who was affected by the
change, and who received the notices. My accounts are in the 'hotmail.com',
'live.com', and 'msn.com' domain. All accessed using something identified in
both MS Outlook Express, and Windows Live Mail, as "HTTPMail" accounts.
This "HTTPMail" protocol used to use something called, "WebDAV", which has
been replaced by "DeltaSync". It affects not just Hotmail. A relative with
an MSN account, and email in the 'msn.com' domain, also received notice. She
was using an older version of the MSN Explorer software, and told that she
needed to upgrade it to the 9.6 version to continue to access her MSN
account as she normally did.

Since you are using Outlook 2002, your only option, to continue with use of
Outlook, is to set up your MSN account using POP3. The software which can
directly access MSN/Windows Live email accounts is: MS Outlook 2003/2007
with the Office Outlook Connector, Windows Live Mail, MSN Explorer 9.6, or
later. All other versions, of all other software, which used use "HTTPMail"
for access no longer can use it; must use POP3 instead.

A word of caution: POP3 is not a "synchronizing" protocol, it is a "download
only" protocol. You will not be able to synchronize all of your account
folders, as you did in the past, using POP3. And many email clients which
can use POP3 automatically delete email from the server once it is
downloaded. If you are used to having your email available on the server at
all times, you will have to learn how to configure your software (Outlook
2002 in your specific case) to leave a copy of the messages on the server.
All the clients I have used (MS Outlook Express included) allow you to
configure this before accessing the account; Outlook 2002 should be similar
in that regard.

I'm having the same problem, but when I googled "outlook connector" I clicked
on the link. And for some reason my computer will not load or recognize any
URL with "g.live.com". And it's not just my computer, I think there's
something wrong with "g.live.com" to begin with. I have had this problem for
over a year. I cannot load messenger on my pc anymore because it doesn't
recognize the page with "g.live.com".

"http://g.live.com/1OLC12/1033" says that it has a problem loading the page.
I've tried other computers that aren't even on the same network and I still
have a problem loading the page. I've tried looking at my browser settings
and neither firefox nor iexplorer will load that page.

Thanks for your help,

John Briley
