Sending SMS from Excel

Is there a way of triggering Excel (e.g. upon a cell showing a certain value
or in fixed time intervals) to send a SMS to a certian cell phone number?

Yes. You will want to look at CPearson's OnTime and Ron DeBruin's CDO mail
at these locations:

Then you need your cell phone's email address.
T-Mobile is (e-mail address removed)
ATT is (e-mail address removed)
Verizon is (e-mail address removed)
Nextel is (e-mail address removed)

You could probably use a tool like Text Pipe in conjunction with PageGate in
order to monitor a spread sheet for specific values. PageGate would then send
notification to a cell phone -- http://www.notepage.net/textpipe/textpipe.htm
